"Bouquet of flowers, Ilya Efimovich Repin – description of the painting
Description of the picture:
Bouquet of flowers – Ilya Efimovich Repin. 1848. Oil on canvas. Eight hundred 50 5 x 600 10 mm
This picture is a real apotheosis of summer. It depicts a large bouquet of new garden flowers on a neutral green background. This technique allows you to make colorful paints of the canvas even more juicy and vibrant.
The flowers in the picture are painted with large expressive strokes, yet thanks to the artist’s skill they remain simply recognizable. In this bouquet, large daisies, pale purple bells, warm mallow, juicy reddish peonies, blue bindweed and yellowish pansies mix randomly and freely. All this splendor is crowned with chic blue delphiniums, attracting all eyes to themselves. A modest nasturtium wraps around the bouquet on the side.
Ripe velvety peaches and other fruits lying on a table complement the impression of a sultry summer, looking great against a light tabletop, dark jug and dense green leaves. A shiny metal vessel and a fruit knife modestly hidden under peaches shades the composition."
