"Madonna and Toddler, Giovanni Bellini
Description of the picture:
Madonna and Toddler – Giovanni Bellini. 1480-1490. Board, oil. 88.9×71.1
Giovanni Bellini, like Andrea Mantegna, is considered a more significant artist of northern Italy of the XV century. The master, who was formed in the late Gothic environment, found an unusual gift for the continuous improvement of this pictorial language, which led him to a more modern harmony of form and color, and ultimately to tone painting and traditional grandeur, usual for the High Renaissance.
Bellini, recognizable for his altar paintings, also writes divine images such as this one, where he manages to interpret an ordinary plot with a special original creative inspiration."
